T’Shuvah.

This painting was inspired by the Days of Awe in the Jewish calendar. A time of deep reflection, soul accounting and renewing of our commitments toward justice, repair, and our connection to all that is.

T’shuvah, often translated to “repentance” or “returning to the Divine,” comes from the Hebrew root shuv, meaning, “to turn back; to return.

The rabbis teach us that t’shuvah is an integral part of how we repair the shattered world we live in. Not by throwing away our broken parts, but by bringing them together, and returning to the essence of who we are.
